We started this blog as a learning experience and as a way to swap knowledge with other investors on interesting situations.

In order to achieve these goals we intend to post all the work we have done on any investment that makes it into the portfolio and also the composition and returns of the portfolio on a quarterly basis. We would encourage any reader to point out our mistakes, hidden risks or anything else we have missed. Our contact details are below and we are always happy to debate any matter.

We hope to show that a highly concentrated investment portfolio constructed of securities that are unappealing to the wider market and as a result trade at a substantial margin of safety can outperform a passive investment portfolio over a five to ten year period. The track record section of this blog will record the life to date performance of our portfolio against a similar passive portfolio based on the ideas outlined in David Swensen’s Unconventional Success.

Happy hunting

Tom, when the blog started the people behind it decided that they wanted to remain anonymous. As a result of having more than one contributor the posts will not always be consistent between the uses of “we” and “I” and you will also notice some nuances in the analytical approach and presentation of investment ideas.

There is nothing behind the decision to remain anonymous apart from a general low profile approach to life. We are always happy to have an active dialog with other investors on any position (ours, theirs or others) and will endeavour to answer emails sent to hidinginplainsightblog@gmail.com in a timely manner. Hope that helps
